Archstone Recovery Center's Extended Care Program

We at Archstone Recovery Center recognize that struggling with drug or alcohol addiction is difficult. Getting clean and sober is even more difficult. And once you've gotten clean and sober, it can continue to be difficult to stay that way.

Our Extended Care Program is designed for people in the early stages of recovery from drug addiction and alcoholism. For many people, the first few months following treatment can be a scary time to be alone. The new habits of recovery haven't completely settled in, and the old habits of drinking or using haven't been completely eradicated.

Our Extended Care Program offers an alternative that supports recovery and encourages the new habits that have been learned during your In-Patient Treatment process at Archstone Recovery Center so that they become reflexive and permanent. Our Extended Care Program is offered to our clients who have successfully completed their in-patient treatment.

How It Works……

After patients complete the inpatient Program at the Archstone Recovery Center what happens when you no longer live in the treatment center treatment and your previous living arrangements are no longer available? Or when "home" carries connections to the places and people that fed your addiction? It's unwise and unhealthy to live in such an environment when recovery is still on shaky ground. Recovery has to continue, but where?........

Our Extended Care Programs can be an ideal answer, offering accommodations in a setting that continues to promote recovery. Living in our Extended Care environment allows the resident to return to a regular work or school schedule, while attending Intensive Outpatient Treatment at Archstone Recovery Center. In addition the residents attend support group meetings and Alumni Meetings at our facility. Living with other residents who are also in recovery creates a natural "support group" within the facility. It's not uncommon for lasting friendships to develop among the residents, fostering each other's sobriety.

During inpatient treatment, addicts and alcoholics are generally insulated from the people and influences that promoted their addictive behavior. Our Extended Care Program allows our patients a gradual reorientation to those outside elements, while enabling the patient's transition to be a positive one.

Our Extended Care Program allows the patient whatever time is needed to develop new strategies for:

• evaluating which relationships and environments are supportive of sobriety
• acknowledging triggers that lead to drinking or using
• finding meaningful and rewarding employment
• locating safe and secure housing
• establishing healthy living routines
• finding and nurturing new friendships with other sober people
